Research Focus

Health Sciences Authority (HSA) will build on existing pharmacovigilance expertise to establish the foundations for a national active surveillance network consisting of an advanced data and text mining-based detection system of electronic medical records (EMR) and trained surveillance clinicians to identify cases of adverse drug reactions (ADRs). The programme will study the EMR from a large tertiary hospital and build on the experience to evaluate EMR data from other hospitals. The aim is to enhance capabilities for detecting ADRs and to obtain associated clinical data for these cases. From these evaluations, drug-adverse event associations may be identified that merit pharmacogenomic research by SAPhIRE partners.
